Looking for a great way to spend a Saturday morning or a Sunday afternoon? Look no further. The City Market in Kansas City has LOTS of things for you!With it's origins dating back to 1856, the City Market has long been a focal point of the local economy, a place to congregate, shop, visit, horse-trade, and many other activities. Currently, it contains a rich eclectic blend of shops, cafes, restaraunts, and the Arabia Steamboat Museum. The air is full of the sounds and smells from seven different languages and cultures.
The City Market Farmers' Market, with over 140 vendor stalls, is in operation from mid-March through November, providing fresh produce, baked goods, and other goodies from local farms and the surrounding area. You never know what you might find! The Spring/Summer hours for the Farmers' Market are Wednesdays 9AM to 1PM, Saturdays 6:30AM to 3:30PM, and Sundays 8AM to 3PM. a vendor's map is available online.
There are also a series of summer Sunday blues concerts this year. Starting on July 16, these shows include such notables as Lil' Ed & the Blues Imperials, Alvin Youngblood, and more. Shows run from 5pm to 8pm
