Don't pay your tax.... LEGALLY!

Stop Paying Taxes in Kansas City!

Well, for one weekend at least, August 4-6, 2006, you can stop paying sales taxes on qualifying items when purchased in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Missouri Department of revenue states:

The sales tax exemption is limited to:
* Clothing - any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
* School supplies - not to exceed $50 per purchase
* Computer software - taxable value of $350 or less
* Personal computers - not to exceed $3,500
* Computer peripheral devices - not to exceed $3,500

You can check out the
Department of Revenue's website for more details of what is covered by the tax free status.

Not all cities, nor counties for that matter, participate in this event. If you're wanting to shop somewhere other than Kansas City, Missouri, you should check out these links:

Depending on your planned purchases, you could save enough for a cup of coffee, or maybe enough for something more substantial. This would be a good time to make some of those major clothing, computer, and software purchases you've been thinking about.

What could be better than NOT paying taxes? Don't miss this one!
